Hainan Project

In December 2007, the company set up a joint venture (the ˇ§Hainan JVˇ¨) with another PRC company to conduct Jatropha curcas-based bio-energy activities in Hainan.

Hainan was chosen as the location for this important bio-energy project because of its particular suitability for growing Jatropha. Jatropha thrives in warm weather conditions and requires an average of 580 mm of rainfall per annum. Hainan provides the ideal combination of these two essential conditions.

With the technological assistance of Jatropha specialists from the Sichuan University College of Life Sciences, Hainan JV has completed the establishment of a 10 hectare nursery to grow Jatropha curcas saplings in the second quarter of 2008 and to expand the size of the nursery during 2008. We signed an agreement with a PRC company who will cultivate Jatropha trees in plantations totaling an area of approximately 767,000 hectares and Green Global will buy all qualified seeds harvested from these plantations from the PRC company.

This cooperation will serve as a strong foundation for our Jatropha-based bio-energy business in Hainan, by ensuring that we have a reliable market for the Jatropha saplings grown in our Hainan nursery, that those saplings will be properly cultivated into seed producing trees, and that we will have a guaranteed future supply of high quality seeds from those trees. Our main source of profit arises from the sales of Jatropha saplings from our nurseries and the trading of Jatropha seeds.

We aim to complete a 43-hectare nursery and 10,000 hectares of Jatropha plantations by 2008.

Technological Partnership with Sichuan University

Relationships with established plant science and agricultural research institutions are essential to the development of both our nursery and plantation programs. The College of Life Sciences of Sichuan University (ˇ§The Collegeˇ¨) was established in 1994 from merging the original Departments of Biotechnology and Biology, which date back to 1924. The College is nationally recognized for two national key subjects, Botany and Resource Biology, and the Jatropha program, headed by Dr. Fang Chen, has since become the preeminent authority on Jatropha curcas in China.

Sichuan University has agreed to provide technical support to Green Global JVC; this includes an intensive research and development effort to establish an efficient and economic Jatropha nursery and plantation program in Hainan. The College will also provide the JVC with its own proprietary varietal of Jatropha with guaranteed germination rates and oil yields.
